Hi! I'm Chay -
I am an in the moment photographer. I believe photography is art. I love to capture authentic connection. I will spend hours with you during a session asking you to tell me your stories and corniest jokes. I've been the photographer running backwards in the mud, while playfully being chased by a toddler; as well as the photographer quietly capturing the tears of a homeless mother, receiving a gift for her child.
I'm not the photographer who's going to tell you to smile nor to dress in matching outfits. It's not important to me if you're posed in the center of the frame smiling directly at the camera. What is important to me is your story, and personal connections. I am the photographer who will encourage you to be yourself. To interact with your surroundings and others in the frame.
That's because these aren't your perfectly posed photo sessions...this is real life. I strive to capture the types of moments memories are made of.
I'm a home schooling, coffee drinking mama, with a busy schedule that includes LOADS of family time. I am also a nature loving vegetarian, who practices mindfulness (though sometimes it isn't easy), and kindness.

I've always loved creativity and art. I received my first camera in the second grade. I have been taking pictures ever since.
In high school I developed film the old fashioned way. I can still smell the musky old vinegary chemicals in the shop dark room. However, back then I was toting a video camera most of the time. I was still playing with angles, perspective, editing, story telling and settings...only live. Even in college my friends and I were still into lugging cameras and making films (most of them moved to LA and NY, where they've created pretty impressive production resumes. I'm proud of those guys! ). College also came with more art classes, creative writing, and humanities. The college experience no doubt further influenced my view from behind the lens.
More recently in photography news, I attended Deb Schwedhelm's inspiring photography workshop. It was wonderful working with Deb, and the other students in class. I am also involved with local charity events, where I volunteer my talent and donate the profits. I photograph my life daily. So much so that my husband is pretty sure I could make a flip book.
I stay true to myself and photograph the world the way I see it, like every photographer should.
